Although several automakers offer luxury SUVs with class and style, Jim Burke Lincoln stands behind the Lincoln brand because we know it's at the top of the list. We're sure our customers won't find another SUV that meets the standards Lincoln sets for its vehicles. Those who want to drive an SUV that'll turn heads as they cruise the streets of Bakersfield, California, can't go wrong with a Lincoln model. Here's a rundown of how Lincoln compares to some of its competitors to demonstrate why it sets itself apart from them all.

Lincoln vs. Mercedes-Benz

Lincoln SUV driving on highway

Mercedes-Benz might be Lincoln's top competitor, but just because the company offers more luxury models doesn't mean its SUVs stand a chance against Lincoln's lineup. One key difference is that Mercedes-Benz prices its vehicles much higher than Lincoln. Here's a breakdown of the prices for similar vehicles from each automaker:

  • Lincoln Navigator: Starting MSRP of $82,765.
  • Mercedes-Benz G-Class: Starting MSRP of $139,900.
  • Lincoln Aviator: Starting MSRP of $53,340.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLS: Starting MSRP of $87,000.
  • Lincoln Nautilus: Starting MSRP of $50,415.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLE 350: Starting MSRP of $62,650.
  • Lincoln Corsair: Starting MSRP of $38,830.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC 300: Starting MSRP of $47,100.

From this comparison it's clear that a Mercedes-Benz SUV costs significantly more than a Lincoln. In addition, Lincoln offers BlueCruise on select models. This driving-assistance system received the highest ratings possible from Consumer Reports out of 12 systems the company tested. Some Lincoln models also have an electric hybrid engine option, whereas Mercedes-Benz only offers plug-in and mild hybrid technology. The highest seating capacity for any Mercedes-Benz is seven, while Lincoln offers the Navigator with an eight-passenger seating configuration.

Lincoln drivers also have the option of choosing Black Label ownership, which comes with exclusive additional perks. This includes premium maintenance services and complimentary car use when traveling to selected airports. Black Label customers also get free car pickup and a loaner car when they schedule a service appointment in Bakersfield, making it easy to maintain their Lincoln so it lasts for years.

Lincoln vs. Audi

While the Audi brand offers luxury models, its vehicles lean toward being sportier. Like Mercedes-Benz, Audi has a wider variety of SUV options than Lincoln. But for Lincoln, it's not about quantity; it's about quality. The Audi models that most closely compare to those of Lincoln are the Audi Q3, Audi Q5, and Audi Q7. Pricing for these models is on par with the MSRPs for comparable Lincoln models, but there are many advantages to choosing a Lincoln over an Audi. For instance, Lincoln SUVs are more spacious and offer more cargo volume than comparable Audi SUVs.

These are the maximum cargo capacities of Lincoln models:

  • Lincoln Navigator: 103.3 cubic feet.
  • Lincoln Aviator: 77.7 cubic feet.
  • Lincoln Nautilus: 71.3 cubic feet.
  • Lincoln Corsair: 57.6 cubic feet.

To compare, here are the cargo capacities of similar Audi SUVs:

  • Audi Q7: 69.6 cubic feet.
  • Audi Q5: 54.0 cubic feet.
  • Audi Q3: 48.0 cubic feet.

There aren't any Audis that'll seat eight passengers, as the brand's Q7 only offers a seven-passenger configuration. So, Lincoln is the way to go for Bakersfield families and those who need to haul a lot of gear in addition to people. Families will also appreciate the suite of safety features included in every Lincoln. The CoPilot360 driver-assistance package includes standard safety tech such as pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and a lane-keeping system. In comparison, there aren't as many standard safety features that come with an Audi.

Both Lincoln and Audi models offer front-wheel, rear-wheel, and all-wheel drivetrains depending on the model, but there aren't any Audi SUVs with four-wheel drive. For those who want a luxury SUV with off-road capability, the Lincoln Navigator is the way to go. In addition, most Audis come with a seven or eight-speed transmission, while Lincoln models pair the engine with a 10-speed transmission for more control and a better driving experience.

Lincoln vs. Acura

Acura only offers two SUV models: the RDX and the MDX. The Acura MDX most closely compares to the Lincoln Aviator, while the RDX model is a competitor of the Lincoln Corsair. With an MSRP of $44,050, the base RDX comes at a higher price than the Lincoln Corsair, while the starting MSRP of $49,850 for the MDX is slightly cheaper than the Lincoln Aviator. For those wanting to tow a small trailer with their SUV, a Lincoln model will get the job done better than an Acura.

The Corsair has a maximum towing capacity of 3,000 pounds, while the RDX can only tow up to 1,500 pounds. The Aviator can tow a maximum of 6,700 pounds compared to between 3,500 pounds and 5,000 pounds for the MDX. Lincoln is also the better choice for passenger comfort. In the RDX, passengers in the rear seat won't have as much legroom as those sitting in the back of the Corsair. Legroom in the Nautilus for front and rear passengers is a little better than that in the MDX, making the Nautilus a more comfortable ride.

It's also good to know that the overall length of the RDX makes it a little larger than the Corsair, so it's harder to park and get in and out of tight spaces in this Acura SUV. Drivers concerned about fuel economy will enjoy the better gas mileage the Lincoln Nautilus offers over the MDX. The Nautilus gets between 19 and 21 mpg when driving in the city, while the MDX gets between 17 and 19 mpg in the city.
